Denise Fox’s (Diane Parish) marriage to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) is firmly over in EastEnders, as next week she begins divorce proceedings.
Viewers will remember that Jack had been engaging in a steamy affair with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) for months.
The pair first kissed shortly before Christmas, and wife Denise was left devastated by his betrayal.
Things quickly spiralled when both Stacey and Denise were involved in the murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) on Christmas Day. The women, alongside four other Walford locals, then concealed his body under the floor of the burnt out Bridge Street Café.
Unfortunately, during the events, Denise accidentally dropped her beloved ‘D’ shaped necklace under the cement.
Her mental health then rapidly declined under the weight of both the murder, and the breakdown of her relationship. Jack found out the truth, and managed to retrieve the jewellery before it was found by authorities.
Struggling to hold it together, she experienced worrying hallucinations of Keanu and at one point, drove teen step-daughter Amy (Elle Dadd) into some woodland before fleeing.
Whilst step-son Ricky (Frankie Day) desperately tried to reach Jack, he was spending time with Stacey and discussing the end of their fling. When his phone continued to ring, he was shocked to find that it was actually Denise’s ex-husband Lucas (Don Gilet) calling from prison. After Lucas explained his concerns for Denise’s mental health, Jack rushed home, where Ricky explained what had happened.
After she was sectioned under the mental health act, he tried to support her but she lashed out and refused to reconcile.
In upcoming scenes, her sister Kim (Tameka Empson) breaks the news to Jack that she’s finalising their divorce proceedings.
However, things are soon thrown to one side when Jack arrives at Peggy’s bar following a mass-crushing situation.
Could the incident see them reunite?
