Eastenders star Jazzy Phoenix opened up about her close bond with former onscreen Love interest Jamie
Borthwick ahead of his Strictly Come Dancing debut.
In the BBC soap, Jazzy’s character Nadine Keller caught the attention of car salesman Jay Brown after a
grieving Jay turned to her for company to come to terms with the death of his spouse Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold).
Nadine lied and told Jay that she was pregnant with his child but it was later revealed that she was faking her baby announcement to get money out of Jay.
Speaking about her partnership with Jamie, 30, Jazzy told host Johnny Seifert on the Secure The Insecure podcast: ‘Sometimes I feel like me and Jamie are just the blind leading the blind. I’m sure we have taught each other a lot. I think the biggest thing that he’s taught me is, is to be kind to everybody. Treat everybody with kindness.
‘He’s got a huge personality. And like I said, I can be a little bit more reserved.’
She added: ‘Jamie has a very special way of making everybody in the room feel like they have his absolute full undivided attention. And that’s something I really, really admire.
‘I can tend to be a more of a listener in the room than a speaker, but when you’re around somebody that’s so captivating like that, and everybody, Everybody loves Jamie, you know, you can’t not love Jamie.’
It was recently confirmed that Jamie will be joining the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
He’s currently one of the longest-serving actors on EastEnders, having been in the cast since 2006.
‘I had a ball doing the Strictly Christmas special last year, so when I was asked to join for this series it was the easiest yes! This is a fresh challenge and it will be so different to be learning a new dance every week and for the public to have their say,’ he said, having competed in the festival special just last year.
‘I’m hoping to be Salsa-ing around Albert Square in no time and I’ll be asking my Walford Strictly alumni for some words of wisdom. See you on the dancefloor’
