Adultery seems to run in the Branning family in EastEnders, but Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) is hoping that things won’t turn out quite as badly for him as they did for brother Max.
Like Max, Jack decided it would be a good idea to cheat on wife Denise Fox (Diane Parish) with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), and things haven’t exactly gone well for him.
Stacey and Jack first fell for each other last December, and Denise found out pretty soon after.
However, Jack assured her that it was a one off, and Denise was able to put it behind them.
Unfortunately, honesty comes about as easily to Jack as being faithful, so it didn’t take long for him to find his way back to Stacey’s bed, and the pair embarked on a sordid affair.
They managed to escape detection until earlier this week, when Stacey decided it was time to call things quits, given Denise’s recent mental health struggles.
Unfortunately for them, their goodbye kiss was interrupted by Martin Fowler (James Bye), who was quick to tell Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams).
What followed was complete chaos for the Slaters, Brannings and Foxes, as punches were thrown and marriages ended.
By the next morning, their affair was common knowledge on Albert Square, much to the horror of Penny and Lauren Branning (Kitty Castledine and Jacqueline Jossa), who Jack had been avoiding.
He couldn’t hide forever, though, and the pair soon confronted him in Peggy’s.
When Jack tried to fend off Penny’s verbal assault, she pointed out that he was getting off easy, given that when Lauren found out Max had slept with Stacey, she ran him over.
As Lauren and Penny stormed off, Jack told Stacey that she could do what she wanted, but he had to go and make things up with Ricky and Amy Mitchell (Frankie Day and Ellie Dadd) before one of them tries to run him over.
Will he be able to get through to them, or does Jack need to watch his back?
