Nugget Gulati’s (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) use of anabolic steroids takes a worrying turn in EastEnders next week.
Viewers of the BBC One soap saw his best pal Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) go to extreme lengths to get his hands on the pills in recent months, convincing family
friend Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) to give him the cash for what she thought was a school trip.
Denzel began on a spiral of self-destruction, with his anger becoming uncontrollable and causing him to lash out at Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) and his girlfriend Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd).
His focus has been well and truly on the gym, and impressing fitness influencer Ebony (Annika Whiston) – so much so that Amy became jealous, and when the pair headed to the bedroom, the effects of the steroids meant he couldn’t have sex and she was left offended.Nugget found her upset in McKlunky’s, and without thinking, tried to kiss her.
After being rejected, he quickly lied to Denzel and said that Amy was the one who tried to kiss him, and not the other way around.
Whilst their relationship ended, the incident had far greater consequences for Nugget, who felt knocked back and asked for some steroids to improve his physical fitness and appearance.
In upcoming scenes, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) convinces brother Zack Hudson (James Farrar) to get involved with the youth boxing tournament, and also tries to get Nugget and Avani on board.
Concerned about an upcoming match, he turns to Denzel once again for another dose of pills and later finds himself suffering a dizzy spell.
Later, his dad Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) congratulates him on not cutting corners whilst training and convinces him to open up – but at the weigh-in, he falls unwell and Zack says he’s not going to compete.
Furious, Nugget lashes out at Denzel which concerns Zack, with him reaching out to Ravi to tell him he believes the lads are using steroids.
Sadly, Ravi is reluctant to accept the truth. Will he regret his decision to ignore Zack, and will Nugget be ok?
