Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) decided to help Will (Freddie Phillips) out with a problem in EastEnders this week.
In the latest episode of the BBC One soap, the Mitchell family were dealing with the fallout of someone stealing the money from Lola’s fundraiser.
Previously, Stevie Mitchell (Alan Ford) was accused but a passionate Will was on hand to defend his granddad – because he stole the cash himself.
After Stevie probed Will for answers, the teen ended up pushing him over in an angry outburst. As Will ran to hide at the park, Phil spotted the door to Billy’s (Perry Fenwick) house was open and headed over.
With the Mitchells at hospital waiting for an update on Stevie, Phil found Will in the waiting room and confronted him, aware he was telling lies.
Outside, Phil chatted to Will and continued to believe Stevie had stolen the cash. Feeling the guilt, Will confessed to Phil that he was actually responsible.
A curious Phil asked Will for more information. He revealed he was talking to a girl online and sent her a private image, but then discovered the person behind the account was a boy called Kyle.
Will then confirmed he was blackmailed by Kyle, who wanted money to keep the image and situation quiet.
That evening, Phil found Kyle and confronted him with a baseball bat.
He told the lad to give him the money and then made him smash his phone. Taking the sim, Phil told Kyle if he tried anything again, his skull would end up smashed like his mobile.
Back at the hospital, Phil presented the money and made it look as though Stevie was guilty after all. Outside the ward, Phil told Will to lie when Stevie eventually wakes up.
Believing he’s dealt with the matter, Phil will get quite the shock later in the week when Kyle’s father arrives in Walford and accuses him of terrorising his boy – and that’s before the new Mitchells arrive!
