EastEnders fans couldn’t believe their ears when they found out the actual age difference between Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) and her on-screen daughter.
Priya, played by Sophie Khan Levy, made her Walford debut last year alongside her daughter Avani Nandra-Hart, played by Aaliyah James, who was the ex-girlfriend of Ravi (Aaron Thiara).
However, curious fans have diverted their attention to the actress’s age. Taking to a Reddit thread, one EastEnders viewer pointed out how Avani is actually 24, not 14 like her character.
The actress who plays on-screen mum, Priya, turns 35 this year. One fan wrote: ‘Isn’t the actress that plays Avani in her 20s.’
Another added: ‘Yeah she’s 24, playing a 14-year-old. Bloody mental! Especially seeing as Sophie Khan Levy (Priya) is only 11 years older than Aliyah (Avani), and Aaron Thiara (Ravi) is only 7 years older than her.’
As for Sophie’s character Priya, she’s been on a mission to get her hands on dying Nish Panesar’s (Navin Chowdhry) inheritance, and in recent scenes aired on BBC iPlayer she came up with a new plan.Having failed to win him over with charm alone, Priya decided to make a deal with the grandfather of her children, offering him her company in exchange for cash.
As the pair kissed, with Nish having agreed to the arrangement, they were totally unaware that Nugget Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) was watching them from outside the window.
However, his mum and grandad’s romantic embrace was the least of his worries, as he was clearly suffering from the side effects of his steroid use.
Nish returned to Albert Square after being disowned by his family with the shocking news that he didn’t have long left to live. Since then, most of the family have accepted him back into the fold.
Unfortunately, Priya’s efforts to get into his good books and therefore his will were soon caught out, and Nish warned her that she wouldn’t be getting a penny.
