Former EastEnders star Davood Ghadami has secured a Hollywood role in an upcoming drama.
The actor, who portrayed Kush Kazemi on the BBC One soap, has joined the cast for a new Prime Video series House of David.
The religious drama is set to follow the story of biblical figure David, who became the King of Israel.
Egyptian American actor Michael Iskander will portray the teen starting off as a shepherd before eventually rising to power after being singled out by prophet Samuel as the nation’s next leader.
Davood Ghadami has been cast as David’s oldest brother Eliab, who serves as a prestigious warrior in King Saul’s army.
The beloved soap character Kush was killed by Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith), who pushed him in front of a train during a showdown – a twist that caused major backlash among the fanbase. Many pointed out the plot holes in the storyline and argued that a character like Kush deserved a more powerful, stronger exit.
Following his EastEnders exit, he then played Doctor Eli Ebrahimi in Holby City just months before it was axed for good, and then starred in an episode of Beyond Paradise.
News broke about Holby City’s cancellation in 2021, with the final ever episode airing back in March of this year.
A statement from the BBC at the time read: ‘We are incredibly proud of Holby City but it’s with great sadness that we are announcing that after 23 years, the show will end on screen in March of next year.
‘We sometimes have to make difficult decisions to make room for new opportunities and as part of the BBC’s commitment to make more programmes across the UK, we have taken the difficult decision to bring the show to a close in order to reshape the BBC’s drama slate to better reflect, represent and serve all parts of the country.’
