Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) life was on the line in recent EastEnders scenes after she was found choking by Gina Knight and Johnny Carter (Francesca Henry and Charlie Suff).
Paramedics were quick to arrive and rush her into hospital, where her panicked family waited for updates.
Fortunately, doctors soon confirmed that Linda was stable and would survive the ordeal, but there was more heartbreak on the way for Johnny.
Prior to the incident that saw Linda nearly lose her life, she and Johnny had had a vicious row.
Johnny was furious that Linda had been drinking, and said some very cruel things, including how he wished she’d died instead of dad Mick Carter (Danny Dyer).
Of course, he didn’t really mean it, and apologising was the first thing on his agenda after doctors allowed him to speak to his mum.
He was left devastated when Linda revealed that when she woke up she was disappointed to still be alive, confessing that she felt like a burden and didn’t want to put her children through any more pain.
Johnny assured her that everything would be okay, before being ushered out by the doctor who insisted that Linda needed to rest.
When Johnny later returned to the hospital, he apologised for putting Dean Wicks’ (Matt Di Angelo) trial ahead of Linda’s health, and promised to make her the priority from now on.Viewers will know that Linda and The Six framed Dean for Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder after Linda stabbed him to death on Christmas Day.
The pressure of her guilt and sticking to her story made Linda even more dependent on alcohol and she slipped further into the clutches of alcoholism.
As Johnny admitted that he couldn’t bear to lose his mum, he promised to get her into the best rehab in order to help her recovery.
However, he insisted that she had to want to get better, not just for him, but for herself.
Linda promised that she did, but will she commit to rehab?
