It’s baby Charli’s first birthday in EastEnders this coming week – but it’s also Dean Wicks’ (Matt Di Angelo) trial and with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) involved in both events, juggling them won’t be easy.
While Stacey didn’t kill Keanu (Danny Walters) at Christmas, she was present when Linda (Kellie Bright) murdered him, meaning she will need to attend Dean’s trial alongside the rest of The Six – Sharon (Letitia Dean), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Suki (Balvinder Sopal) and Denise (Diane Parish).
‘Sharon has been in fight or flight since Christmas Day, and she desperately needs to close that chapter’, star Letitia Dean said, describing Sharon’s desperation ahead of the trial.
‘The only thing standing in between Sharon and her freedom is the small matter of a murder trial, where she and the rest of the women are going to have to lie through their teeth.
‘Let’s not forget that Sharon was the prime suspect only a couple of months back so if the trial doesn’t go to plan, she knows she could easily find herself back under suspicion. Even though they all are in touching distance of freedom, it’s an incredibly risky plan and therefore it would be foolish to think that it’s going to be easy.’
Amid all of this, the Slater clan are planning on celebrating the first birthday of Lily’s (Lillia Turner) daughter Charli.
Coming up, Mo (Laila Morse) gives Stacey some pearls of wisdom before testifying in court. However, Stace is left consumed with guilt after a disagreement with Lily when Mo reminds her that Stacey’s forgotten to help plan Charli’s party.Stacey puts her family stresses to one side later that day, as she heads to court to give her witness statement.
In the week, Stacey tries to ease her guilt by making an effort for Charli’s party, but things go from bad to worse when a distracted Stacey burns the birthday cake.
Eventually, the Slaters manage to gather at Number 31 for the karaoke party. Sadly, their happy afternoon is destroyed due to Stacey being forced to leave the celebrations.
With Dean’s trial concluding at the end of the week, what will Stacey’s future look like in Walford afterwards?
