EastEnders has aired dramatic crowd-crush scenes that have put the lives of several Walford residents at
risk. Monday’s (August 26) episode saw Albert Square’s locals gathering to celebrate the carnival,
though the night would end in terror with dozens trapped inside Peggy’s nightclub.
Chelsea Fox was still stinging over being demoted from her manager position at the club, with Penny Branning taking over the job.
The latest episode saw Chelsea spotting that Penny was already struggling with the job while trying to put together the nightclub’s carnival celebration.
Chelsea chose to sabotage her rival by meddling with the Peggy’s booking system to make more tickets available online than the club could safely hold.
Her sabotage led to frightening scenes later in the episode when Peggy’s became dangerously overcrowded.
A nervous Penny looked on as Zack instructed security not to let anyone else into Peggy’s, but Vinny Panesar pushed past the guard and dozens more rushed in.
Howie could hear Kim screaming that she needed to get out but the door was blocked. Kim begged for help as others crushed her against the door.
“We’re trapped,” Kim realised.

The soap left off with Lauren Branning dangerously trapped in between other attendees. Amy Mitchell was being crushed against a grated wall, whereas Bobby Beale crawled up on the bar to escape the crush.
In advance of these troubling scenes airing, EastEnders star Zaraah Abraham spoke about the “guilt” Chelsea will feel for causing the crowd crush.
“She is filled with guilt that she has had a part to play in what is a catastrophic, and potentially fatal, accident,” she explained.
