EastEnders star Sophie Khan Levy has teased what is to come for her character Priya Nandra-Hart after
her major feud with the Panesars.
Priya has had a difficult few months, with serious financial struggles leading her to strike a deal with
dying Nish, where he would make sure her family is looked after in return for sexual favours.
She eventually decided against this, but Nish wanted revenge, so he lied to the Panesars and told them that they had slept together, which turned Priya’s whole family against her.

Since then, Priya has been kicked out of the house by Vinny, who was keen to impress Nish, and her relationships with her children Avani and Nugget have been fractured.
Digital Spy caught up with Sophie while she took part in EastEnders’ official nominees photoshoot for the Inside Soap Awards 2024.
As the cast posed for glamorous photos at a studio in London, we filmed an exclusive behind-the-scenes video which can be viewed at the top of this page. The photos from the shoot can be found in the current issue of Inside Soap.
Speaking about what is to come for her character, Sophie said: “I think it’s safe to say we’ve left [Priya] pretty high and dry! But there’s one thing that Priya is all about and that’s her kids.

“So I think we can say that we’re going to see a lot more of her motherly instincts coming out, and really showing her to be the mother that she is – which I think is a very strong and fierce one.”
Explaining that a family reunion could be on the cards, she continued: “In terms of Priya and her family and where she stands, I think there’s so much love. Even though the Panesars are complete chaos and high drama, there’s a lot of love, and family values mean everything to everyone in that family.
“So I think there’s some scope for coming together, falling apart, coming together… where there’s love, there’s hate, and I think the Panesars do that quite well.”

Having only joined EastEnders last year, Sophie is nominated for Best Newcomer at this year’s Inside Soap Awards, while her co-star Navin Chowdhry is up for Best Villain for his portrayal of Nish.
Reflecting on her nomination, she said: “I’m really excited about it, I feel really honoured because [EastEnders] is such an iconic show. So I can’t really believe that A, I’m a part of it and then B, to be nominated. I just feel really lucky, and I’m really thrilled.
“Being in EastEnders coming up to the 40th anniversary, I can’t believe it. I grew up watching the show, and so to be part of an anniversary episode or moment… it just feels like the show is on a high at the moment, it’s a super exciting time.”
Sophie continued: “Nobody knows anything about what [the anniversary episode] is going to be, me included, so I’m just as excited as the viewers to find out what’s coming.
