Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) get quite the shock in upcoming EastEnders scenes when their engagement party is interrupted by police.

It seems as though Reiss’ crimes are set to catch up with him in new pictures from the BBC soap, which show the couple being arrested in the Queen Vic.

Viewers will know that Reiss has been treading a dark path recently, after finding himself in some serious debts.

After scamming Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) out of significant sums of money, he went on to kill wife Debbie in shocking scenes, smothering her with a pillow in a bid to get out of paying her care home fees.

As Sonia and Reiss both get taken away by police, will Reiss confess to everything, or will Sonia end up taking the fall, as some fans previously speculated?

Following Debbie’s death, EastEnders fans were quick to take to X/Twitter to point out that Sonia may be in serious trouble, after a series of unfortunate events.

First of all, detectives Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Callum Highway (Tony Clay) overheard her telling ex-husband Martin Fowler (James Bye) it would be better if Debbie ‘slipped away’.

She then visited Debbie in her care home, where she was seen touching her neck and repositioning the pillow that Reiss eventually used to kill her. As Sonia left the home, she was also berated by a carer for having not signed in when she arrived, with the carer questioning how she’d managed to get in.

Fans were quick to point out how the DNA evidence on Debbie’s pillow could put her in the frame, with the circumstantial evidence not looking good either.

Will Reiss let Sonia go down for his crimes, or will the truth finally be exposed?
