Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) is up to something in EastEnders, and son Peter Beale (Thomas Law) is onto him.

Peter has been growing suspicious of Ian in recent scenes, and it’s understandable, given how shifty the restaurant owner has been acting of late.

After receiving constant secretive texts and calls, Ian agreed to meet the mysterious person on the other end.

In a bid to cover his tracks, he told Peter and Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) that he was going to run for council again.

Viewers will find it hard to forget the time Ian had the whole Square ‘keeping it real’ under his leadership, though unfortunately it didn’t last long.

Though at first Cindy was unsure about the prospect, she was soon keen to ‘back Beale’ – much to Ian’s surprise. So keen, in fact, that when Ian announced that he needed to go to Manchester on a course, she was prepared to join him.

However, Ian was eager for her to stay at home, and it would soon become clear exactly why.

Back at home, Cindy enthused to Peter about Ian’s mission, unaware that Peter was sitting on some information of his own.

With Cindy out of earshot, Peter confronted Ian about what he’d learnt.

Already suspicious of Ian’s story, Peter had rung the local council, only to find that there was no trace of his application.With Ian’s lie having been uncovered, he had no choice but to come clean to Peter, though he issued a stark warning that he wasn’t going to like the truth.

What is Ian really up to?

In upcoming scenes, Cindy determines to find out what’s really going on, and convinces ex-husband George Knight (Colin Salmon) to drive her to the house she has tracked Ian to.

What will she find when she gets there?
