Courteney Cox Opens Up About Her Past Cosmetic Procedures

Courteney Cox was 30-years-old when she was introduced to us as Monica Geller on Friends. And now, at age 58, the actress has opened up about her experience with filler — and why the

injectable treatment is her biggest beauty regret.

During her interview on the Gloss Angeles podcast, the actress spoke about her home care line, Homecourt, and spilled her go-to makeup essentials. And in true candid Courteney style, she also

got real about ageing in the public eye and reflecting on her decision to get filler.

“Thinking I was getting older when I was really young, that’s just a bummer, a waste of time,” Courteney said. “It’s a domino effect, it’s like you don’t realise that you look a little off, so then you keep doing more cause you look normal to yourself. You look in the mirror and go, ‘Oh, that looks good,’ you think, and you don’t realise what it looks like to an outside person.”

“Thank god they are removable,” the Scream VI star added. “I look at pictures of me from when I thought I looked okay, and I can’t believe it.”

“There was a time when you go, ‘Oh, I’m changing. I’m looking older’… and I didn’t realise that, ‘oh sh*t’, I’m actually looking really strange with injections and doing stuff to my face that I would never do now,” she said. Ah hindsight, it’s a beautiful thing.

And earlier in 2017, she told New Beauty that she’d had her fillers dissolved. “I’m as natural as I can be,” she shared. “I feel better because I look like myself.”

She said of her face at the time that she was “trying to make it not drop” but that “everything’s going to drop”.

“You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles — they’re smile lines. I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realise that fillers are not my friend.”

As she approaches 60, Courteney’s perception of ageing has continued in an accepting direction. Finishing her interview with The Times, she said: “There’s nothing wrong with being 60, I just can’t believe it. Time goes so fast.”“There’s no question that I am more grounded, I’ve learnt so much in my life — what to enjoy, what to try to do more of, and what to let go of.”

procedures. In an interview with The Times in February 2022, Courteney admitted that there was a time she “tried to chase” her own youthfulness. And while plagued by plastic surgery rumours in the tabloids, she didn’t realise at the time how different she was looking.
