EastEnders’ Jean Slater is set to make a discovery about newcomer Maya Houssain in new scenes.
Doctors star Bharti Patel arrived on the Square as Maya last month, where she befriended Jean’s partner Harvey Monroe after he gave her a lift in his taxi.
The pair bonded over their love of Tottenham Hotspur and shared a heart-to-heart when Maya revealed her husband died last year.
Harvey later became suspicious of his new friend after she deleted her online account, though she explained away his worries by explaining she was concerned about being scammed.

Earlier this week, after Harvey shared the truth about his son Aaron’s extremist past, viewers were shown Maya looking up Aaron’s criminal history.
Suspicions will continue to rise next week when Harvey decides to go to The Vic with Maya to watch the England match, which leaves Jean feeling jealous.
Their fun is short-lived as Maya gets a headache during the game, so Harvey suggests they watch the rest of the match at the Slater’s house.
Later at Number 31, Maya is particularly nice to Jean and starts to get her on side. Maya then goes to the kitchen to make tea and ends up taking a long time, so Jean goes to check on her. What will she find?

Show bosses previously confirmed that Patel would join the cast as Maya for a guest stint. They also teased “an unlikely friendship” for Maya and Harvey, who’s been feeling lonely following the departures of Mitch Baker and Rocky Cotton.
EastEnders, along with other soaps, is continuing to face scheduling changes as broadcasters make way for TV coverage of Euro 2024.
Throughout the tournament, the show will shift to BBC Two for certain episodes, including Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26. The show will then return to its usual 7.30pm slot on BBC One on Thursday, June 27 and Friday, June 28.
