EastEnders fans were reminded of one of the soap’s most emotional episodes ever on Thursday (20 June), as Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) paid a touching tribute to his late wife Lola (Danielle
Harold).
Last year, the two characters paid a trip to Margate, as Lola’s incurable brain cancer began to take hold.
During one particularly touching scene, Jay revealed he’d secretly been learning how to play the guitar, and serenaded his dying wife with a moving rendition of Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton.
Back in the present day, the residents of Albert Square gathered for a special talent show fundraiser in Lola’s memory at The Queen Vic, where Jay reprised his performance.
Many of Lola’s family and friends were moved to tears as Jay sang to pictures of the late character flashing up on screens behind him.
With everyone digging deep into their pockets to raise money for a brain tumour charity, they’d raised quite the collection by the end of the evening.

However, they were horrified to learn that a huge wad of cash had been stolen – prompting Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) to point the finger at estranged relative Stevie (Alan Ford).
The pensioner protested his innocence, but something tells us Billy’s dad might know who is behind the crime – especially as grandson Will (Freddie Phillips) is currently being blackmailed for cash after falling victim to a catfishing scam.
Earlier in the episode, Will had revealed to Stevie that he was being threatened that unless he coughed up £300 by the end of the day, the amount would double.
Could the Walford teen really be the one behind the missing money?
