Denise Fox (Diane Parish) opened up to sister Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) about her mental health in Thursday’s (June 13) episode of EastEnders.
It was a tricky day for The Six in tonight’s instalment of the BBC One soap, as the Walford residents gathered to say goodbye to Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).
Keanu was killed by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) on Christmas Day but the remaining members of The Six – Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Denise, Suki (Balvinder Sopal), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and
Sharon (Letitia Dean) – were all present when the murder took place.
In the aftermath, Denise struggled with her mental health so much, she was sent to a mental health unit to recover.
Denise wasn’t involved in actually killing Keanu but because she helped dig a grave in the café, bury the body there and keep it a secret afterwards, she started to experience flashbacks, severe hallucinations and PTSD.
As Albert Square paid their respects to Keanu, Denise was inside the Fox/Trueman household talking to Kim and Howie (Delroy Atkinson), who have been away on a cruise. To no-one’s surprise, conversation turned to Keanu’s funeral but when Howie grew curious about how he was killed, Denise snapped and wanted to change the subject.Later, during an emotional moment between the siblings, Denise told Kim that she was sectioned while she was away.
Kim was completely taken aback by the news. She wanted to know what triggered Denise’s mental health problems, but she covered and failed to mention Keanu.
The sisters then came to an agreement – eventually, Denise will tell Kim everything.
Just not today.
